From 7am to 10pm, there’s always a line out the door at the antique brick building on the corner of Poydras and Tchoupitoulas, home of Mother’s Restaurant. Order at the cashier, and squeeze in at one of the cafe tables and wait for your name to be called. Whether you’re dining in or taking out, just do what the employees tell you to. They are no-nonsense, all business, feeding the hordes of hungry as fast as they can. Not too pricey and amazingly delicious. I make sure to go each time I’m in town.
Jambalaya, Crawfish Etouffée, Shrimp Creole, Gumbo
Whatever you order is going to be good.
I love bread pudding. I’m very picky about bread pudding. It should have chunks of bread, gooey sticky vanilla bean sauce. It should be warm, spoonable, and heavenly. Mother’s bread pudding is all these. Add it to your order, and do a few extra miles on the elliptical.
