Restaurant Week is a week when local eating establishments strive to impress with a three-course meal for $25, beverages not included. For a diner, it’s a great opportunity to try out new restaurants or restaurants off the beaten path.
43 North (in 2011)
Taking over the old Cafe Continental locale, 43 North fits into the category of the trendy chic restaurant with an enticing but vague menu and slightly overpriced wine list. The short ribs were cooked perfectly, sided with creamy potato puree. It might have been just Restaurant Week, but I thought the portions were small, especially the vegetarian option. The tamarind passion fruit dessert was divine, however. In a restaurant-saturated town like Madison, they are going to have to create a unique identity to stay competitive.
